The Championship Arena League (CAL) is the place where the best fighters on the planet test their meddle. Set up specifically for new challenges to work their way through the rankings, it contains a variety of former Smashers, oddballs, former Questers, and even the occasional villain looking for some quick cash. However, a set of rules keep the place in check; these rules are used inside AND outside of battle, when it comes to CAL participants fighting one another.
The Rules
The battles take place within the CAL arena, which is a vastly overhauled Stadium. It still works for its original purpose, but in CAL battles, no outside interruptions are allowed. The announcer, as always, is SIMBER, alongside Julian and/or Metal. A comprehensive defense system has been built into this Stadium in order to protect it from outside attacks, though these are unlikely. Also, Questers do not fight other Questers except when they are both above rank 25.
Most battles in ranks 50-40 of the CAL combatants (not counting Questers) take place in a cage, for fast battles without anything in the way. Throws against the walls deal 15 damage instead of 10, and one can use the walls to add 5 damage to attacks.
A wide variety of fighters are in this league; here, their names are listed. Additional information can be seen after they have been fought by a Quester.
The Fighters
While they get steadily tougher in the early leagues, around rank 25 or so it levels off. Due to the somewhat random distribution of combatants past that, it is likely that a good deal of shuffling will occur in the first couple battles between participants. Additionally, the highest-ranked contestants, save for the boistrous Metal Sonic, appear to be unknown. Hmmm...
In case the thought of fighting some of the best battlers on Nintendus wasn't good enough, there's the loot itself. The first new challenger to reach the top will earn ALL OF IT.
