Background Information:
Sam Woods of Woods Landscaping married a woman (unknown name) years ago and had two boys, Nick and Corey. Somewhere down the line, Sam became widowed. Soon after, Sam remarried to a woman named Christine and had fraternal twins, Jimmy and Jennifer. Every year, the family used to take trips to California. One time, Nick was responsible for watching the twins by the water. Sadly, Jennifer drowned, leaving Jimmy mentally disturbed. Ever since, Jimmy was placed an early childhood psychology program. Also, Sam and Christine got a divorce. She remarried to a man of the last name Bateman and gained full custody of Jimmy. Back at the Woods residence, there was anger within the family. All of this was going to be resolved when it started with the Batemans putting Jimmy in an institution.

Plot:
A concerned half-brother of a mentally distured child steals him from an institution in order to take him to California, but along the way discovers that the child has a talent for playing Nintendo games and meets up with a travelling girl who wants in on the gig. The trio sweep across states gambling on the games and eventually enter the ultimate video game championship, which introduces a new Mario game, "Super Mario Bros. 3".

  • Fred Savage's character name is Corey. In real life, his younger brother Ben plays the role of Cory Matthews on the television show Boy Meets World (1993-2000).
  • Jenny Lewis was the co-star in this movie aside Fred Savage. She was in another movie Stepkids/Big Girls Don't Cry...They Get Even (1992) that also had his younger brother Ben in it.
