Super Mario Sunshine 2: The Shadow Sprites

Note: This is a pretty long summary, so do not read if you have a lack of patience

Another note: This story will bear a resemblance to that of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

The story starts off with Mario once again taking a vacation to Isle Delfino, but this time with Luigi so Mario can show him the amazing tropical luxuries. Mario has also brought F.L.U.D.D. (Flash liquidizing ultra dousing device for those of you that haven’t played SM: Sunshine) so they can enjoy a vacation without having to chase down Shadow Mario and those other disgusting enemies.

Once they arrive, Fludd tells them that he needs a new systems upgrade, and that Prof. E. Gadd has a vacation lab on Delfino. Once the brothers arrive, they discover the lab to be submerged in goo similar to the graffiti Mario encountered in his previous adventure. Mario and Fludd begin to clean the place, but are stopped by a huge machine powered by the graffiti. Mario uses Fludd to short circuit the mechanoid, and Shadow Mario is flung out. Stunned by this appearance, Mario is unable to react as the culprit escapes. Prof. Gadd’s lab is restored. To reward them for their efforts, Gadd gives them his new cleaning device, S.U.D.D. (Soap Utility Dispensing Device) which Luigi wields. >From this point on, the player can switch between Mario and Luigi whenever they want (ala Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga).

Once they arrive at Delfino plaza, several piantas claim that "The Shine Sprites have gone mad!" Mario and Luigi discover shine sprites that are not bright and gold, but are dark and blue (similar to what they looked like in the first game if you already got a Shine Sprite but revisited the level.) These are the shadow sprites, products of Shadow Mario (a.k.a. Bowser Jr. Who vowed to fight Mario again) These shadow sprites have turned the Shine gate into a portal where instead of a world powered by Shine Sprites, there is a world powered by Shadow Sprites. It is Mario’s, Luigi’s, Fludd’s, and Sudd’s responsibility to restore light to this world so it and The real world can merge and Shadow Mario may be stopped.

-Gameplay-

Mario wields Fludd, who sprays water and can take out enemies that are mainly based on heat and easily removable goo. Luigi wields Sudd, who dispenses large jets of soap and can work with Fludd’s water to wash away more persistent messes, and Sudd is also effective against enemies with vulnerable eyes. Mario and Luigi themselves have unique characteristics. Mario is more of a powerhouse on the ground (yes, punches would return if this game could actually be made) and has more resistance against attacks, and Luigi is more quick and agile. When you gain health, you have the choice of transferring some to Luigi if you’re currently playing as Mario or vice versa. The Yoshis are also back. Now they have the ability to change their enemies into eggs and they can gain special powers depending on what fruit they eat. The fruits and their powers are as follows:

Red Apple - Increases Yoshi’s strength

Green Apple - Increases Yoshi’s speed and jumping height

Yellow Apple - Gives Yoshi invincibility

Banana - Gives Yoshi the ability to fly for a brief period

Grape - Gives Yoshi the ability to illuminate dark areas

Watermelon - Gives Yoshi the ability to shoot seeds (Yoshi’s Island)

Pepper - Gives Yoshi fire breath

-Levels-

Charred Dunes - Shadow version of Bianco hills

Toxic Wharfs - Shadow version of Ricco harbor

Obsidian Shorelines - Shadow version of Gelato Beach

Evil Clown Land - Shadow version of Pinna Park (really, that was all I could come up with)

Abandoned Hotel - Shadow version of Serina Beach

Eely’s Den - Shadow version of Noki Bay (Named after the boss in Noki Bay of SM: Sunshine)

Ghost Town - Shadow version of Pianta Village

Mount Black - Shadow version of Corona Mountain

-Multiplayer-

Mario and Luigi can fight side by side in cooperative mode, or fight head to head in Versus mode.

Well, that’s it. I would have liked some of this to be in Super Mario Sunshine.
