One Player Mini-Games

Memory Match- This game is an easier version of the old Concentration game. It's not that hard if you have a good memory. Pound a tile and try to find a match. You get two coins a match and two bonus coins for clearing the game. Watch out for Bowser! If you pound his tile, you will be stunned for about 2 seconds. Don't waste time.

Knock Block Tower- You have to bust all the crates and jump up and touch the chest to open it. You only have 10 seconds. For a lower crate, jump up and fall halfway and then punch. If you punch a Thwomp, you lose.

Limbo Dance 1- This Limbo Dance contains 1 red bar and is therefore relatively easy. Press A fast at the start but not too fast. If you stumble, stop and count to 1, then keep going. After the first bar, keep pressing A at a steady pace to keep your height constant.

Limbo Dance 2- Same as Limbo 1 except there are about 8 red bars, making it much harder.

Slot Machine- Line up 3 of the same picture to win coins. You can pick up all the items for coins. Coin: 1 coin, Red Mushroom: 6 coins, Green Mushroom: 6, Flower: 8, Shell: 8, Chest: 10, Mario's Hat: 20

Pedal Power- Yet another rotating game. Rotate your control stick as fast as you can to light up the lightbulb and beat Boo. Careful not to kill your hand when you do it.

Whack-a-Plant- 9 pipes. Piranha plants jumping up. You get the picture. Jump on the Pirhanha plants to get a coin. One plant will come up, then two, then three, and so on up to eight. There are 36 in all. Try to jump on them in diagonal patterns. Hold down A to jump high and get to farther ones. Stay away from the moving springboards. They do nothing but slow you down.

Shell Game- Watch the Koopa that has the coins in his chest very closely. Just watch closely and you're eyes will never leave the right Koopa as they spin around. Move your head with your eyes if it helps.

Ghost Guess- The Boos hide a chest and you have to find it. Unlike in Shell Game, you don't get to see it in advance. At the start, look at all the Boos' shadows as they move. The one that moves first is the leader who has the coins. Try to look at all the boos at once instead of one specific one. Takes good eyesight.

Ground Pound- Look at the solid wood pegs and memorize them. Butterflies come and cover up the pillars, so you have to memorize them. Pound the pillars so they will go down. If you pound a pointed one, you'll be stunned for about 2 seconds. You can also see the smooth ones under the butterflies if you look real close. Not too hard.

Teetering Towers- Run across towers that fall after you leave them. This game is hard at first, but gets fun when you get the hang of it. You don't have to jump the first tower, just walk it. Don't jump until the tower has fallen all the way to next one. Always go for the coin bag and get the coins if you can.

Chance Time- Not many people consider this a minigame, but the Instruction Manual does and so do I. The strategy is simple, jump as you see the one that comes up before the one you want to hit. The blocks speed up everytime you hit another one making it almost impossible to time the last one. With a lot of skill, you can make this work out however you want it to! The only problem is you can't practice it easily.

Secret Minigames
These are found later in the game and can only be played in the minigame house. Wind up the Mecha Fly Guy- It's best to just ignore this stupid minigame. All you do is rotate the control stick to see how many times you can rotate it in 10 seconds. Nintendo Power has recorded an amzing record of 75 spins. If you can beat this, let me know!

Bumper Ball Mazes- There are three mazes in all. They all have the same concept. Roll on a Bumper Ball through a maze in less than a minute. You can win 20+ coins in these games. I think it's affected by your time. Maze 2 is the easiest, it has three shortcuts and big paths. Maze 1 is in the middle, with one shortcut and a narrow path at the end. Maze three is the hardest, with no shortcuts, winding curves, and a long narrow path.
