 | Story 1: "Beauty and the Bea
ch" By Mark McClellan, Bill Vallely, John Constanza, Jaqueline Roettcher, Jade, Kingman Huie Summary: Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Toad are shipwrecked on an island of surfer mushrooms (similar to a plot of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! now that I think about it) who are piling bombs in a volcano. They discover that it's a plot of Koopa's so he will have more Fryguys when the volcano explodes and the mushrooms are covered with lava. Of course, Mario decides to build a pipeline into the volcano to cool it down before it explodes. He does it just in time, and the volcano doesn't explode. Koopa has by now left the island, and is angry that he has lost. The mushrooms use the volcano as a Jacuzzi and that's it. Pretty short plot. Rating: Not as good as the latter part of the comic, but still pretty good. And everyone finally changes their clothes! An 8.8/10. Story 2: "Fins and Roses" By Mark McClellan and Bill Vallely, George Wildman, P. Zorito, Jade, The Gradations Summary: Wendy O. Koopa is lounging in the Water World with a large amou nt of weapons in preparation to annihilate Mario, who is set to appear there in 14 minutes. But who else could make a better appearance than Stanley the Talking Fish? He gets on Wendy last nerve by saying that he's in love with her, so she picks a bomb up and says she's definitely got a present for him. Of course, she's saving it for Mario, so when Stanley takes it, not knowing it's a bomb, she chases him down underwater. There, Bertha beats her up, saying Wendy O.'s trying to steal him from her. She follows him back underwater where he has prepared an orchestra for her. She blows it away, and Bertha again beats her up for "destroying Stanley's present for me". But when she again resurfaces, Mario's coming. She has one shot in her bazooka left, but Stanley gets her so pissed off that she shoots at him. Bertha AND Stanley get hit. Bertha takes the bomb of Wendy Koopa's from earlier and kicks it up to the surface, blowing Wendy up. Mario helps her up. They declare a truce for ten minutes to get Koopa-Ko las and say mean and nasty things about Stanley. Rating: Features (mainly) a secondary character only, so there's a plus. And of course, there's Stanley again. And Wendy fights a good fight. A 9.5 out of 10 because of the reasons above, and of course, the humor. |
