Kyle Orland's 10th Anniversary Statement

Ten years? Has it really been ten years?

It seems hard to believe, but the site that started as a personal project on AOL's free web page is now one of the largest and best Mario fan communities on the web. In its first week, the site got 17 visits. It now attracts in excess of 2,000 visitors a day.

The Mario universe has changed quite a bit in the time SMBHQ has been up. In August of 1997, Super Mario 64 hadn't been out for a year. The Mario Party series hadn't even started. The Game Boy Color was more than two years away.

Thanks to Sean for his continued stewardship of the site while I'm busy trying to make it as a freelancer. Thanks to Jay for his help building the site into what it is today. Thanks to everyone who's ever contributed anything to the site. And thanks to Nintendo for putting out the best series of platformers on the face of the planet.
