Shigeru Miyamoto was verbally slandered in a December 23 article posted on The Sun's (UK) website. Do they have a point? Didn't think so. - Report By Gage at 11:24 AM Tuesday, December 25, 2007
I'd like to start off wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and I hope you all got what you wanted under your trees this morning. Next I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates this month compared to November's. There was simply no news hardly for the month of December. The month is quickly coming to and end which means New Years is just around the corner. Why not take a look at what made Mario Headlines for the year 2007? I came onto the news crew beginning in January and I'll admit I was a bit cautious on what to post and what not to post so yeah that would explain why you probably read updates that weren't all too meaningful.Big Game Releases Nothing too important surfaced in the news word until the release of Super Paper Mario was released in North America on April 9. The game's release was interesting to many because of the 3D features presented and it was of like nothing we've seen in previous Paper Mario games. In September when the title was released in Europe, gamers experienced a glitch in PAL copies which occurred during Chapter 2-2 the game will freeze when Mario speaks with Mimi if the language is set to Spanish, English, or German. Nintendo of Europe offered resolutions for the glitched copies in November. Since the beginning of the year die hard Mario fans have been waiting for the release of Super Mario Galaxy. A pirated copy leaked to the Internet in October. Without and doubt this was the biggest game release for Nintendo of the year, or at least in my opinion. Super Mario Galaxy hit North America on November 12 and November 1 in Japan. I remember reporting on how great the game was doing in Japan with the first week's sales topping out at 250, 585. Equally in the U.S. the game was a hit with currently 1.12 million copies being sold here. At first there were mixed reviews for the game, mainly discussing the graphics and all. I'm sure you remember the CNET blogger Ron Reisinger's review for SMG, yes? Pay no attention as gaming websites have continued to praise the work shown in Mario's new adventure! I'm sure you all can agree this is one of the best Mario games ever to be released! What titles made it to the Virtual Console this year?
Now is not the good time to discuss this but you might have noticed I didn't speak about Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games much. This was because of two reasons: One, I never played it and two, it is rarely in the news. 2008 Here We Come That about wraps up this year's biggest times for Mario. Hopefully I didn't miss anything too important! Next year appears to be a good time for Nintendo as the much anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be released on February 10 after a delay was set earlier this year. As the time comes we're sure to report on news items relating to the release. But what's to happen after the release? News may be slow but we'll do our best to not bore you all! Take care and have a happy New Year. We'll see you in 2008! - Report By Gage at 2:41 PM Thursday, December 20, 2007
Going on about what Sean says, Kyle Orland reports and gives evidence that the Super Mario Galaxy DS video is a hoax at Joystiq. - Report By Gage at 10:03 AM Tuesday, December 11, 2007
I hate to be such a party pooper, but I thought I would say that the Super Mario Galaxy DS trailer is 99.9 % fan made. The footage is temping, but I know enough about the graphic capabilities of the DS that it is not able to support footage identical to the Wii. Another give away was that weird math text, especially the final one that said that 1 DS Star = 10 Wii Points. I don't think Nintendo would just give points away for nothing (free points from a contest maybe, but not from a game). So, sorry to all of you who gave your hopes up. We can at least still hope that there will be a new 3D Mario for the DS. - Report By Sean Kelly at 11:05 PM
Thanks to our very own Kyle Orland for sending in these videos! - Report By Gage at 5:39 PM
By no means is this any form of confirmation of Super Mario Galaxy heading to the Nintendo DS. Some say this is fake but thats for the fans to decide until one day we do get a confirmation, I can certainly understand people feeling as if this is real. We'll keep you posted! - Report By Gage at 5:33 PM Sunday, December 02, 2007
On IGN's Top 100 Games 2007 Super Mario Brothers took the number one spot! It is also interesting to note that Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo 64 placed 50. - Report By Gage at 12:51 PM |
