Since its release on November 1st Super Mario Galaxy has seen 251,000 copies sold which earned the game on the first place spot for the nation's sales charts. To some of you 251,000 isn't too horrible, and it isn't, but Galaxy still hasn't outsold past Mario games:

For example, when New Super Mario Bros. was released in Japan on May 15, 2006 for the Nintendo DS, around 420,000 copies were sold... almost doubling Galaxy's numbers. To us it would appear that the numbers would be a bit higher for Galaxy seeing how there's such a high demand for it and has been since the game was announced for the Wii console.

Something interesting to watch would be how well SMG does in the states when its released on November 12. One thing is for certain - fans better hurry to their local stores to get a copy fast on that day or else you'll be waiting!
