Could you tell me where the catoons can be perchased?
- James Wenzlaff
There are quite a few Mario Cartoons on VHS and DVD available in the SMBhq store. It should be noted that a complete box set is coming out in March (and the Zelda episodes are availble now). |
Hmmmm... Ebay? |
Catoons can not be purchased legally in the United States. As you know, Catoons are positively charged toons. The opposite of this is an Anoon, a negatively charged toon. In case you can't remember this easily, remember that the "n" in Anoon stands for negative. Examples of Catoons are Bugs Bunny, The Tick, and Inspector Gadget. Anoons include characters such as Daffy Duck, Lisa Simpson, and Fred Flintstone. Positive toons and negative toons are attracted to each other, by a force called toon bonding. When two toons share electrons, it is called a covalent toon bond.-jay(If you actually understood that lame Chemistry joke at all, you get 2 points.) |
I'm sorry that is classified information you saw
nothing here. *pulls out memory-erasing flashstick* |
Just about any big online store like Amazon or Ebay should have them. In "real" stores you might have to do some hunting. |
Well, let's see. I think it has to do with Bidding on items which happen to be the sort of thing you want, on this special site which you find whatever you want. I forgot the name, though. |
Try Amazon or Ebay. They've just started releasing the Super Mario Bros. Super Show onto DVD, so they should be somewhat easy to find. |
We are trying to find a stuffed Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. Any advice as to where to buy them? We don't know if any have been made, but would very much like to have them!!! Thanks for any information you can give us.
- olivross62
Do you even read the other mailbags, were people ask for products and everybody gives the same answer? (Note to self: No more product questions in future mailbags) |
Hmmmm... Ebay? (Ebay has everything) |
You know, Sean, you should make an auto-reply
e-mail bot that checks to see if an e-mail asks where
to buy something and just have it send "EBAY" if it
does. |
I don't remember ever seeing any but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Try Ebay. |
eBay |
As far as I know, there haven't been any stuffed Baby Mario and Baby Luigi plushes released. It'd be pretty cool if they were made, though. |
I think in the third trivia their was a question of all the items that you can get that make you fly and you forgot some. Like the Tanuki Suit, P Wing, and Cloud. I think theirs a diffrent one in Mario Land too.
- Blake Andrews
Hi!,
I made a drawing of Luigi and I really want to submit it on this site. But I have som questions..
1. Do I have to be a member or a friend or something to submit a drawing?
2.How many fanart can I submit max?
Ok, that was my questions please anwer soon!!
Bezt
You can start by going to the Fan Art section. |
Fan art, eh? Interesting idea. I'll leave it to the others to answer this one. |
Yes, you have to be a member of "The Holy Order Of Official Mario Attackers And Bashers" (THOOOMAB). Appliactions are found on the index page of SMBHQ.-jay |
Sorry, I have made it a personal credo to never
accept fanart from people named "Bezt". Oh wait...
that's "Bert", never mind, you can submit as much as
you want, just make sure it isn't crap. |
I don't do the fan art section but I'd assume
1. No.
2. As many as you want. |
Well, Penguinman doesn't run the section anymore, but these rules here must ring a bell.
The rules for submitted art are:
1. Little to no violence/gore in pictures.
2. No foul language.
3. It must be original. DON'T send in another person's artwork without permission.
4. It must be Mario-related.
5. Subject matter must be at most PG.
6. I'm generally lenient in picture quality, but I insist that the picture must look like there was some effort put into it. At least be clever.
Editor's Note: As far as I know, PenguinMan is still running the section
http://www.smbhq.com/users/nc/fanart/ is where to go for submitting fanart. Hope to see your Luigi picture up there. Luigi's awesome. (But not as awesome as Peach.) |
Heya mailbag people. It's me, a SMBHQ staff member! Oh, right. It's not
that exciting.
You might think I'm crazy, but you appear to have room for one more
responder. This is a little unorthodox, but is there anyway I could join in?
Oh yeah, Jay, your jokes in this section are great. Especially the ones
about the notes! I was laughing for quite a while about that.
Anyway, I know you guys don't want my weird email eating up your mail
space, so...
I've tried incredibly hard to beat Super Mario 2: The Lost Levels. I'm
stuck on the second to last level. I never can seem to get through it...
it's like, AHHHHHHHH!!!!
You have any ideas on how to fix my 'AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!' problem?
-Metal Man88
This is proof on how big our backlog is (this e-mail was from July) |
Which second to last level? Is this 8-3, 9-3, or D-3? If it's the
problem with that big windy jump off the springboard, you jsut need to
time it right. It drove me crazy too, but you can do it if you keep at
it. Wait for the wind and JUMP! |
Good luck, Metal Man. I would help with your game problem, but I can't. For you see... I'm blind...-jay(Notes? What notes?) |
You sound like a humongous loser and I hope I never
have to work with you on a mailbag answering panel on
some Mario website EVER. |
Smash the game. Always works for me. |
No, you fool! It's a BLAAAAAHHHH problem! The AHHHHHHH!!! is like, BLAAAAHHHHH!!!
BLAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!
And there's no room left. You were too late, I took it, myself. That's right. It's too late. You can't get it. Mwahahahahahahaha! *Punches self in face* |
Hahah, you get to be the new guy now! I'm not the new girl anymore! And Lost Levels tends to kick my butt, so I have only played it twice. I know, I suck. |
I was wondering if there was ever a version of the classic SMB released for
the game cube. If so where can i find it?
Thanx Deborah
Gamecube? no. Revolution? Apparently there will be. |
Unfortunately, no. but, if you get the Game Boy Player, you can buy
the SMB NES Classics series for the Game Boy and play it on the
bigscreen. Or just dig up a used NES. |
Yes, it's a little known fact, but SMB was released for the Gamecube. Nintendo was 99% complete with developing it, when they realized that they had already created the game "Super Mario Bros." and released it on forty other systems. So there was absolutely no point on making it for the Gamecube. So your answer is no. But you could program you own SMB for the Gamecube, by hacking a copy of Super Mario Sunshine. So your answer is yes. In conclusion, I have no idea. Or do I? The answer, is yes. But upon further review by the officials, this answer was overturned, so your answer is no. Are you confused yet? If not, then you haven't been reading carefully enough. The correct answer to your question can be found by taking the 3rd word from the 2nd sentence of every answer that I've made here on the SMBHQ Mailbad since I started answering them last year. God Speed, little dude. God Speed.-jay |
It an unlock on Sonic Gems Collection. Just beat
Sonic CD with Tails to get it. |
No, but there is one for GBA which game be played on your Gamecube if you get the Gameboy player attachment. As a side note, many NES games will be free on the Revolution. |
No such thing. Try the GBA classics collection, Super Mario Brothers Deluxe for the Game Boy Color, Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES, or the original for the NES. |
There was never one released for the Game Cube, but there is one for GameBoy Advance. |
What do you think of this Mario image i made?
- camp1101z
To quote Chris Rock: "I think George Lucas is going to sue somebody!" :P |
That's, um... great? |
That's, um, er, pretty cool. Actually, that's better then most of the crap I put on NC. Good work.-jay |
Needs salt. |
I didn't get the attachment. |
It's... insane. Where'd you get such a high-quality Star Wars image? |
I think it's pretty neato. ^_^ |
I think the site should have a section for Mario references in popular culture. For example:
Norse By Norsewest: The Return of the Lost Vikings (Video Game, PC/PS1/SNES)
Early in the game, the Vikings are sent to Transylvania, where they enlist the help of a witch to send them home. In order to brew a transportation spell, she sends them to find various ingredients, one of which is an "Oiramrepus Mushroom." If you can't tell, "Oiramrepus" spelled backwards is "Supermario."
Mystery Science Theater 3000 (TV show)
The cast has made a few references to Super Mario Bros. over the course of the series:
-Early on in 201: Rocketship X-M, during a press conference, Crow makes a joke about collecting "bonus coins and mushrooms."
-At the end of 213: Godzilla vs. Megalon, TV's Frank can be seen playing Super Mario Bros on an offscreen TV:
FRANK: What's going on? That Goomba just ate that little Mario guy! That's not fair, I was getting all the...
DR. F: Look, it's okay, you can continue from this world, just hold down A and press Start.
FRANK: What does is matter, he's dead! DEAD, I TELL YOU! Dead...(breaks down crying)
-In the middle of 408: Hercules Unchained, there's a scene where the heroes race to get between walls that are slowly closing. Joel comments, "This is just like in Super Mario World!" and Tom Servo hums the first few notes of the SMW "Course Clear!" theme.
-At the end of 414: Tormented, Joel & the 'bots sing a "happy thoughts" song to cheer themselves up. The lyrics consist of listing various boyish fantasies, including "we live in the world of Super Mario Bros."
-Throughout 811: parts: the clonus horror, the cast comments on a bald, mustaschioed scientist looking like Mario. They were most likely thinking of Bob Hoskins' portrayal in the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Ozy & Millie (webcomic)
http://www.ozyandmillie.net/2003/om20030918.html
In the above comic, Avery and Stephan are humming the famous overworld music from Super Mario Bros.
Homestar Runner (Flash cartoon series)
Every year, the cast dresses up as both well-known and obscure pop culture characters for Halloween. Two of them have worn Mario-themed costumes:
-In "Pumpkin Carve-nival," the King of Town dresses up as Mario. It ties into the cartoon as well: early on, he says to Marzipan, "No! I'm a video game!" Also, when he recieves a "Worst Place" ribbon for "carving" his pumpkin, he says, "Sorry, King, our princess is in another castle." Finally, if you click on him at the end, you can play an SMB spoof called "Super Kingio Bros."
-In "Halloween Potion-ma-jig," The Cheat dresses as Toad. If you click on him at the end, he shouts something that sounds similar to Toad's "I'm the best!" from Mario Kart 64, flies in the air as if hit by a Red Shell, and lands with a "POOMP!" sound effect.
Futurama (animated TV series)
-In "Anthology of Interest II," Fry asks the What If Machine what life would be like if it were more like video games. It shows a world invaded by various video game enemies, including Donkey Kong in a sumo loincloth. At the beginning, he attacks the UN by throwing barrels at the delegates, and hops on the building to make the windows slant, a la the original arcade game. Also, the Italian delegate is none other than Mario.
I know is is long. If it's too long for the next update, you can leave out the references to save space.
-TB Tabby
Maybe someday. I'll put it at number 1 million on my "stuff to do for SMBHQ list." |
This is an excellent idea, and a great starter list. I seem to
remember some from old Foxtrot comic strips as well. Sean, let's set
up a page for this and solicit user submissions for more. |
I'm too busy to read your whole post, so I'll just answer with "Eli Whitney and the Cotton Gin."-jay(Actually, isn't TMK already doing a list of Mario References? Wouldn't that be stealing their idea? Why don't we just copy their source code and put it on SMBHQ? Actually, that sounds like a good idea. I'll get one of the SMBHQ goons to get working on that right away. Operation: Steal The Hell Out Of TMK. Good work, Mailbag Questioner. Good work.) |
You know, only a total nerd would be interested in
that stuff. Fortunately, this site is staffed entirely
by nerds, so your efforts have not gone unappreciated. |
That's an interesting idea and you have plenty of examples. I think we should add it somewhere. |
Thinking that we need such a section need not cause us to make it. We have a TON of sections right now, some of which are dead and need to be shuffled into the back room. I'm sorry, but we'd also need someone to run such a section too. Thanks for the random information, though. |
I think that's a pretty good idea, actually. Maybe we could add a new section with that information? |
This may have already happened before you even answer it, but are you going to take away the Super Mario Battles think or what? If it's being closed, then just take it down already. Also, do you guys have any ideas of what Mario games Nintendo will make for the new Revolution console? Or what would you like to see? I'd like to see another Paper Mario, or a Luigi RPG! And Mario Football and Mario Basketball!
-Smashmatt
I just removed the link for this update. Thanks for reminding me. Oh, and I think my newest rant should answer part of your other question. |
Er... guys? |
It takes effort to remove stuff. It's so much easier to just leave it. For your second question, I really want to see Super Mario Curling for the Revolution. That's the only game I want.-jay |
I want to see Super Mario Pie-Eating Contest. You'd
use the controller as a fork. It'll sell a billion
copies! |
I don't really know anything about that section, but I'm guessing it would be better to keep it up without updating than to take it down.
I'd like most to see some good 2D Mario, but we all know that's not going to happen on the Revolution. |
I'm with you on the Super Mario Battles. It's been a triplicate of what SSQ and SSS already do! And it's closed. It needs to be taken down. If Sean can do it, that is. As for the other stuff, well... we don't know much more than you do, sadly. Nintendo doesn't give us secret information to hand out to random people. |
Don't ask me, I'm just the ne- Oh wait, I can't use that excuse anymore. I don't deal with the Super Mario Battles. And I hope there's lots of Mario games for the Nintendo Revolution. |
i am doing a web site for school and i was wondering how you got your pics because nintendo said they dont let individuals use coppyrighted material, they get too many requests, so i want to use some pics for my class email me back please
- Stewart Wilson
I think as long as you don't pretend to be Nintendo, the powers that be usually let fansites slide. |
Basically, we take the pictures from emulators or scans from strategy
guides. We haven't run in to any problems with Nintendo yet but, if
they asked, I suppose we'd have to take them down. |
Oh crap! We're not allowed to use those pictures??? RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN! NINTENDO IS GOING TO KILL US!!!!!!!!
(Alarms sound)
Overhead Speaker: "Nintendo operatives have entered the Super Mario Bros. Headquarters."
Sexy Female Computer Voice: "Intruder Alert. Intruder Alert. Intruder Alert. Intruder Alert."
"Oh noes! Nintendo has found us!!! WHAT DO WE DOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!111111oneoneoneelevencowcowcow"
"Stop right, there, Neglected Boy!"
"Don't KIIIILL ME!!! I'm too alive to die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"You really did it this time, Jay. This would have never happened if you didn't stop stealing Nintendo's images for your stupid comics."
"Shuddup, Bill. You're not even real!"
"I'll hold them off, Jay! Run! DEATHRAY!!!"
"Wow, Fred. That's very noble of you."
"Huh? I didn't say anything."
"Oh know... That must have really been..."
"YES! It was I! Fred 2!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
"PICKLES!"
"Yes! Gasp all you want, but you'll never get the Omega Drive! Ha ha ha!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
"By using the Omega Drive, along with the Canary Engine, I will have.......... THE ULTIMATE WEAPON!!!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
"Not so fast, Fred 2! We'll never let you get away with that! You'll have to kill us, first! Right guys!"
(Silience. Not THE Silience, but just, you know, quietness.)
"Sigh..."
"That's right, Sigh all you want, but you'll never stop me, since I have the Oynx Gem!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
"Hahahaha!"
Myserious Stranger: "Stop right there!"
"Who is that myserious stranger?"
"Oh know! It's.............."
Myserious Stranger: "That's right! It is I! The Myserious Stranger!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
"PICKLES!"
Myserious Stranger: "Hand over the Phoenix Sword, you fiend!"
"Never!!!!!!!!!!!!"
(Fred 2 and Myserious Stranger fight to the death)
"Wow, they both died."
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Hey, isn't
 supposed to say that?"
"Where is
 , anyway?"
"Hahaha! I can finally take over the world! By using the Omega Drive, Canary Engine, Oynx Gem, and Phoenix Sword, THE WORLD WILL BE MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
"GASP!"
Sexy Female Computer Voice: "GASP!"
"GASP!"
"PICKLES!"
"
Don't do it! Think of all of the good things in the world!"
"I not going to blow it up, you putz. Just take it over. Now if you be quiet, I'll let you be Secretary of Pizza."
"Sweet! All of my years of hard work and study have finally paid off!!!"
"Jay, Can you wrap this up? Your dragging out the mailbag."
"That's a good idea. You know, we all had some good fun and some laughs, but I would like to discuss with you a more serious issue. This is the problem......of dihydrogen monoxide. This chemical is being polluted by industries around the globe, and there is no regulation for it! It is responcible for many problems, such as global warming, and acid rain. So please. PLEASE! Contact your senator today and ask for them to FIGHT dihydrogen monoxide. Please. You are our only hope. Take it away, Bill!"
(Singing) "You must FIIIIIIIGHT dihydrogen monoxideeeeeeeeeeee!"
"That singing is terrible! Ray of Death!"
(Deathray misses and kills Jay)
"Tell.........my hampster..........that I'll miss him.............."
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Where was I going with this? Oh well, I forget. Anyway, don't do drugs, kids.-jay

THESE ARE MY PICTURES BACK OFF YOU MONSTER |
Just use them. It's technically illegal but if you're not using them commercially they're not going to go after you. |
I dunno, we can't really email you back. The way we get them is twofold: Video capture devices and *snip*. Yes. *snip* is the easiest way, but it's also in the gray area legally. I don't use any *snip* or *snip with *snip* because I'm a legal guy.

Uhh.... Hm. I don't quite know how to answer this one. Anyone else want to try answering? |
