Luigi 128: Well, fortunately I managed to get on the internet at just the right time to answer these mailbags. Looking at this, I think people need to learn how to submit mail to the right places.

SK: Yep

Partially and temporarily deprived of the Internet.
Sean Kelly
Deciding to answer some questions too.

When is the next update for the Mushroom King and Mario Memories going to be put up?
- Steven Martinez

Luigi128: I would say as soon as the caretaker of that department gets tired of using procrastination as his theme.

Sean Kelly: If you check the main page you will see that the Mushroom King has just returned from his long absence.  As for memories, ask Jay.

Hi my name's Matthew and I was wondering if I could post this link http://www.freewebs.com/agentm/ on your links page? It's about Mario becoming a spy and I need to attract members.
- ther49

Luigi128: Do you realize that in about two months your site has received only 5 hits? Just being in this mailbag will probably be the best thing that ever happened to its popularity.

Sean Kelly: I do have to say that this IS a well-made webpage.  You should really talk to Jay about joining SMBhq, we need someone like you.

Hi,

I'm wondering:

1) What is your best "Super Mario Land" score?

2) When will the "Mario Memories" Section get more updates?

3) Is "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga" any good?

4) What is your favorite "Super Mario RPG" character? (I like Geno)

5) What are all of the names of the special stages in "Super Mario World"?

6) Is Jay making a sequel to "Bill & Fred's Quasi-Mediocre Adventure"?

That's all for now

-geek05

Luigi128:
1.)Actually, I never played that game. I might have played Super Mario Land on an emulator once...
2.) My psychic adviser told me it would be updated in 3 years.
3.) Definitely. I just recently bought the game. I haven't had a chance to play it much, but it's good.
4.) Luigi. He leads the credits.
5.) You mean the ones in space? I can't remember them all, but I'll list a few: Groovy, Tubular, Outrageous, Awesome. Did you notice that they are all adjectives?
6.) There's probably alot of things Jay is "working" that won't be up for some time.

Sean Kelly:
1.) I played it, but never kept track of my score (it is a pretty hard game)
2.) Ask Jay
3.) It looks good, but alas, I don't have a GBA.
4.) I always enjoyed Mallow and Booster.
5.) (turns on the SNES, which just happens to be by the computer and have SMW in it) OK, they are (in order): Gnarly, Tubular, Way Cool, Awesome, Groovy, Mondo, Outrageous,  & Funky.
6.) I have it on good authority (I talk to Jay everyday on AIM) that Jay tentatively plans to make a Bill and Fred sequel after he completes Lord of the Wings and NC/SSS Mach 2.  I even suggested a title too him: Bill and Fred's Totally Fake Journey: The Return of Silence (actually the subtitle is Jay's idea).

Where did you get the "Mario" text from on your main page? I looked all over, but none have numbers or special letters. Please mail me back at bditz@hotmail.com. Thanks!Brad
Luigi128: Well, I don't know where or how they got THAT, but I did find some text similar to that at some old web page that I can't find anymore...

Sean Kelly: I found the text on TMK's downloads page.  It is, however, now available on the, just launched, SMBhq downloads page.  However, I'm sorry to say that this font doesn't have special characters either.  The special characters on the buttons are just clever editing by Jay.

Are the fan comics still going on?- LatinTeen4U2C
Luigi128: I would think at least the Luigi Mystery comics are still going on. I submitted some of my own awhile ago. (I don't C anything!)

Sean Kelly: Yeah Luigi's Mushroom Kingdom Mysteries is the only real active Fan Comix area at SMBhq right now.  Patrick VanDusen has been running the Fan Comix section, however he has seemed to go MIA over the last few months.  If you had webspace that allow hotlinking, you can alway post on SMBhq/NC's Fan Comix Forum.

I just beat Donkey Kong '94 for the Game Boy, and I discovered that the ending description in the Game List was incorrect--at least, it's not the ending I saw. Below is a description of the real ending, so SPOLER ALERT!!! If you're at all interested in beating this game, I recommend you stop reading immediately.

After beating DK in Level 9-8, he does get flung off the tower, but Junior doesn't follow. (He got caged back in 9-4, remember?) Instead, you'll be returned to the map screen. If you hit A to re-enter 9-8, you may notice that the giant DK head on the tower has started smiling. That's because the big ape has one last trump card...

When the level starts, Mario and Pauline have at last bee reunited...but wait! What's this?! The level collapses, Pauline is knocked offscreen, and a bumper crop of Super Mushrooms falls off the tower! You can guess what happens next...that's right, Kong is back, he's super-sized, and he's ready to take on Mario in a no-holds-barred fight to the finish!

One climactic final battle later...(this is a description of the ending, not a walkthrough)

Mario and Pauline have found their way to an old-school SMB level, complete with warp pipe and question blocks. Pauline expresses her gratitude by presenting Mario with one last Super Mushroom, making him as tall as she is. But before he can kiss her without standing on a footstool for the first time, the normal-sized DK tumbles down from the sky and lands right on top of him! Junior peek up from behind the hill, but goes back into hiding when Mario lifts up DK effortlessly. Now it's the big ape's turn to cry for help. Junior leaps to to assist, but the scene freezes.

The next scene is a group photo of (left to right) Pauline, Mario, DK, and Junior. Looks like Mario has tempered his justice with mercy and forgiven the apes. Perhaps that's why they're on relatively good terms with each other now. The credits start rolling at this point, but oddly enough, they have no musical accompaniement. That kind of disappointed me.

Oh yeah, and here's some screens of the ending from the VG Museum.

Luigi128: You know, the e-mailbag is usually meant for us to answer questions... Are we really that desperate to get 10 mailbags?

Sean Kelly: Everything that goes into the mailbag get's an answer whether it's a question or not.  As for us being desperate, it would be nice to get enough questions so that the mailbag could be updated more frequently than just every 3 months.

So...
Why is there no Super Mario Battles? Can't they at least keep the old ones on the site?
--Milo Reed

Luigi128: We can do whatever we darnwell please. (Seriously, now, I'm getting tired of answering questions about what somebody else does!)

Sean Kelly: I recently re-started Super Mario Battles.  I think I will try to contact Mike P, so I can get an archive of the old ones. (Luigi128 don't be so cranky)

Dear SMBHQ,

how would you like an idea for a game.
Not only fun but all the game will, give the player;

-additional work using numbers
-subtraction work

What more the players could be chosen from SM characters!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in talks with SONY so a phone call or email would not go a miss. The likelyhood is you post me a confidentiality agreement.

Mark

Luigi128: Don't let the HQ fool you. This is just a fan page, not Nintendo.

Sean Kelly:  Yeah.  However, once the game ideas page get's a new editor, I'm sure it would like to hear what you have.

I remember watching the Super Mario Brothers on TV when I was a little kid. I know Bowser is King Koopa on TV. The Koopa Kids on the TV versions of Super Mario World and Super Mario Brothers 3 go by different names from the video game version. I also know that Ludwig von Koopa was Kooky, Wendy was Kootie Pie, Morton was Big Mouth and Bully Koopa was Roy. Who are the rest of them - Cheatsy, Hip and Hop Koopa?

Chuck

Luigi128: Well, I never saw the show, but that leaves Lemmy, Larry, and Iggy.

Sean Kelly: Luigi128 never saw the show, but he got it right on the money.  Cheatsy was Larry and Iggy and Lemmy were Hip and Hop.
