Dear
SMBHQ maibag,
Congratulations on a great website, I was wondering though,
I have heard that there is a 9th world in Super Mario Brothers
3.
If there is, how do you get there? Thank you!
-Phantaz
PenguinMan:
Thank you.
There isn't a 9th world in the sense that you're probably thinking
of, but most people consider the place where you go after you
use the Warp Whistle to be the 9th World.
ok
i know its completely impossible to beat super mario bros. 3 in
11
mins but theres a video of a kid doing just that on the internet
so could
you post something about this? -
Betgmt
PenguinMan: Yes, that would normally be impossible, but the person who did
that was using a modifed ROM to allow for some otherwise impossible
feats, like bouncing off of wrenches. It's still pretty impressive.
I
have a question about Mario's development. Was it always planned
to be sort of cartoony or was it going to be like the Zelda games
(deep storyling but occasional humor)? It seems to me that the
cartoons established Mario as a character that would drop anvils
on Bowser, etc. Could you clear this up?
Thanks,
Logan T. Hoffman
PenguinMan: Well, as far I know Miyamoto was not behind the cartoons,
but I think that from the beginning Mario wasn't exactly planned
to be a master of dramatic action. His first game had him fighting
a big ape with hammers, for crying out loud.
Dear
Super Mario Brothers Headquarters, Although
I do admit that I thoroughly enjoy your web site, I have a bone
to pick with you. the people at SMBHQ need to update the old
sections
more! I am speaking for a lot of my friends and Internet pals
when I say
that there is too much new crap being added to SMBHQ. I am not
interested
about chats, and Mysteries, and Chuck Quizmo. I want stuff that
matters!
Reviews, better walkthroughs, more movie info. All that would
be great,
but please, PLEASE, do not make anymore sections. A web site
of your
caliber does not need them!
Sincerely,
Phantaz
PenguinMan: Well, you aren't the first to complain about this. Jay and
Sean have realized that they do need more meat on the bone,
so to speak. However, I do like all the extra stuff, but maybe
they should concentrate more on the Mario info before the extra
stuff.
Sean Kelly: Actually you are. It was this e-mail that prompted me to start the SMBhq Renaissance (see Message Board for more info)
My
little boy, Zachary, LOVES Luigi. Do you have posters, action
figures or anything else that is of Luigi? His 5th birthday is
coming up on February 24th and all he keeps talking about is Luigi.
I can only find Mario, but he doesn't want Mario. We have some
of the games, but he likes to play pretend and would really like
Luigi toys. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Brenda J. Holland
PenguinMan: Yes, they do indeed have Luigi toys. I have one myself.
They are a little hard to find. Check out media and
video games stores like Sam Goody or EB, and there's also a
site called GKWorld that sells lots of assorted video game toys. They'll likely
have a few Luigi-themed items.
Is
there any site or something I can find the Mario 3
strategies on. Like the order of the card game, how
to get to the white ship in certain levels, the white
mushroom house, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx,
Z
PenguinMan: Well, we should have them here, but since we probably don't,
check out GameFAQs.
It's an excellent source of info for all video games.
I've
just gotten Mario and Luigi and i'm wondering why beans?
- Tim White
PenguinMan: Your guess
is as good as mine. Of course, this is the same
company that brought us a kingdom of walking, talking mushrooms
ruled by the only human who was living there before the Mario
Bros. came.
Hello!
1. Okay, I've got this "Idiots make up fake game systems"
problem again! Two extremely dumb guys at school keep telling
me that Paper Mario will come out to Playstation 3, and then this
girl has a Palm Pilot, and those guys tell me it's a Playstation
3! AND they keep saying Super Mario RPG 7 will come out to Nintendo
Squarecube! I did what you say, tell them they're right then make
up a game system, but they say I made it up! I HATE THOSE DORKS!!!
2. If Cranky Kong was Donkey kong years ago, then couldn't DK
today be DK Jr. years ago? The question just popped in my head.
3. Do you know where I can get a long/short sleeve shirt that
contains a power-up on it, like a Mushroom? Some guy at school
had a black t-shirt with a bunch of Zelda weapons in 8-bit style,
and the text said "Don't make me go Zelda on you".
Signed, Bob Jindra.
PenguinMan:
1. Ok. What
do you want me to do about it? :P
2. That's what
most others believe.
3. Check out Hot
Topic at your local mall. They should have a whole section
of video game apparel (That's where I got my 'vintage' Luigi
shirt).

I just unearthed a Mario game that's not on your games list. It's
Yoshi's Oven for the Super Famicom. It's not just Yoshi's Cookie
with a different title: this one actually involves mixing ingredients
and baking. Let's hope there's a patch available.
- TB Tabby
PenguinMan: Wow! That's looks interesting. I'm sure someone will get
that on our list soon. Thanks!
Dear SMBHQ,
I was wondering if there is going to be a Mario Advance 5. Do
you know if that's coming soon(or if it existed yet)? Also, what
if there was a game that you run around in like in Super Mario
64. Wouldn't that be cool?
-Johnathan
PenguinMan: As far as I know, there won't be a Mario Advance 5. But
if it were something like Mario 64, or at least a brand new
game, that would be pretty cool.
Sean Kelly: If there was it Mario Advance 5, it would probably be Yoshi's Story.
