Responder Auditions
FOR THE DATE OF
February 14, 2004

Hello Sean Kelly here.

This mailbag was supposded to be the open Mailbag audition for the new mailbag responders.  However, it has now turned into an introduction for the 2 new responders.

At the end of the responder search, I am left with no more and no less the number of people responing the mailing, thanks to two responders leaving during the search.

There was a great bunch of replies to the mailbag position, but these 2 people are the only ones who bothered to send in a mailbag.  I don't get it.  If no one wanted to send in a mailbag, why did they even apply in the first place.

Anyways, here are the new responders: Luigi128 and eam.  They probably would have got the job anyway, but they now have to settle with simply being acclaimed.

On to the mailbag:

HEEEEERE THEY ARE!

Hi!
Can you tell me the name of this little amazing bomb?
Somebody told me she's a SMB character...

thks in advance

Giovanni, Genova - ITALY

Luigi128: Well, if you're referring to the seemingly short-lived bomb that initiates kamakaze attacks then I believe the name would be Bob-omb. (As far as I know it didn't show up until SMB3)
Editor's Note: It's SMB2

eam: Hi Givovanni! I think your talking about a Bob-omb.

What ever happened to the Mario 101 section on SMBHQ?
-Sjr0918

Luigi128: As I am unaware of the maniacal conceptions that occur within the mind of whoever runs that section, I don't know. However, I could contrive an intelligible generalization and say that it is probably being discontinued. (Which is all a high-falutin way of saying that it has been ignored.)

eam: Its still there. You can visit by clicking here.

To whom it may concern,
I wanted to know if there is anyway I could purchase the mario tv tray. Could you kindly let me know and if so the price also.

Thank you

Lisa

Luigi128: Well, I didn't find any in all of my searches, but you could keep trying at ebay, it may pop up.

eam: I don't know a anywhere that sells a Mario TV tray. My suggestion is to try EBay.com. Good luck on your search!

I LOVE YOUR GAMIE
FROM JAMIR WALKER

Luigi128: We aim to please.

eam: Thank you, but unfortunatly I didn't make Mario. Click here to visit the offical Nintendo website.

Please can you tell me which arcade game first introduced the character of Mario and when?

Thanks

Zoë Flowerday,
Nether Heyford, UK

Luigi128: I believe that would be Donkey Kong, released in 1981. And to anyone in power who reads this, we really need to have some sort of archive on the site that contains this information if we don't already.

eam: Mario was first introduced as Jumper Man in Donkey Kong, in 1981.

Hey you guys :)
I just wanted to know and pleeeez be honest
is: http://www.smbhq.com/users/mysteries/minusworld2.htm a joke?? i mean almost 20 years and this has JUST been figured out? this has got to be bull$%#&! is it?

sincerely:
Dru Langemann

Luigi128: In all seriousness there is probably less chance that that is true than there is that Luigi is in Super Mario 64. Besides, if you read the report thoroughly, you can find a number of discrepencies:

- There are far too many grammar errors, which denotes a joke that was quickly put together.
- The email address is "nintendo@nintendo.com" when it should be "nintendo@noa.nintendo.com"
- The person who responds to those letters doesn't know anything! They always leave you with the exact question you started out with and basically give you a high falutin form of "I don't know." I would doubt that they even know how to get the first star in Super Mario 64, let alone something like this!
- The Goomba King is obviously drawn by hand.

eam: Yes.

Hey wats up I remember watching the episodes of the Super Mario Bros in the 1980s and 1990s I'm playing the games now but heres my question are there ever gonna make episodes I wanna see the shows again I call all the shows genius I'm the Super Mario Bros #1 fan espicially there are way better than Sonic the Hedgehog
Your Friend
Danny

Luigi128: Due to the fact that that was over a decade ago, and they haven't made any since, I doubt it.

eam: I think I remeber a release of several episodes on video and DVD a while back. Check Amazon.com.

Dear Whoever you are,
In you'r guide for smb2 you said and I quote:

You can't enter Sub-Space while in a Jar. Who knows what THAT would do?!  Mario might WAKE UP!!!

Mario is NOT asleep.First he had the dream that he was in it then when he and his friends went to have a picnic thay appered in Marios dream.

I rest my case

Colin.

Luigi128: To heck, Mario is sleeping! If you ever had the "skills" to beat the game you would see him sleeping as the credits roll!

eam: 1. I didn't write it.

2. Your wrong, they're right.

Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshis Island and Super Mario Kart are coming out for the Nintendo Gamecube during August 2004.

They are still going to be 2D scrolling games but they will have a 3D touch to them, like the Super Smash Bros Melee Mario Adventure level! Also the sounds and music are going to be improved by using a remix system. Nintendo are going to take the classic tune and edit it and remix it. This way it will have a beat to it. They want to put a Pop/Dance image to the music. Nintendo said they will also use robotic sounding to?

Nintendo of America are making these with permition from Nintendo of Japan (Main Nintendo Company). They will, or should be out in America, Japan and Europe for August 2004.

Nintendo have also been saying about re-releasing other games to, like Donkey Kong Classics, Probotector/Contra, Paperboy and... are you ready for this, Super Mario 64!!! for the Gamecube?

-Popmanw

Luigi128: You know I really haven't heard anything about it. But come to think of it that would be cool!

eam: Ah, behold the power of rumors.

My husband has just been voted the best Mario look-a-like by his students!  I would like to download a picture of Mario that I could frame as a present for him.  Any suggestions?

With regards,

Janet.

Luigi128: I have just the picture for you! http://www.gameonweb.co.uk/education/graphics/unit3/mario.jpg ... of course, it may be a little small...

eam: Congrats to him! Here is my favorite Mario picture. If you don't like that you could try google.com's image search.
