Mario Mailbag!

January2000

I forgot zootaloo@hotmail.com from last month's issue. Here's his question:

Do You Know About Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island?
Have You Gotten 100 ponts from World 3-7: Monkeys' Favorite Lake?
I'm Trying To Get 100 points, but I can't get the last flower under the trees above the evil flowers.
Can you tell me where all the 5 flowers are?

The flower you want to get is easily grabbable if you go to the rock ledge before the flower, and do a Ground Pound (Dn while in air) just to the left so you land in the water. While in the water, push right so you are under the rock when you come up. BTW, the house leads to the Popping Balloons game.

All right, folks. From here on in, I would like to extend the mailbag to include a good friend of mine, and here on in, he will be helping me answer questions. Ladies and gentlemen, here comes Steven Reich.

Now, on to the question by GunPowder77@webtv.net:

You have to be able to answer this; what are those piles of dirt with
the letters DK on them for

Dave:
I have no clue. I'm going to Steve on this one.
Steve:
Once you get the camera, go to Cranky's and you'll get the hold-down-the-B-button move (technical term). Use that on the patches of dirt.

Now we hear from Dinobot743@aol.com:

Hi, I was just wondering if there was going to be another Mario Kart 64 game
for the N64? Since Mario Kart 64 did so well.

Dave:
I seriously don't think so. The Dolphin is getting a lot of attention by Nintendo, so any games are probably being put off until the Dolphin comes out in 2001.
Steve:
I'd have to agree here. Expect a Dolphin Mario Kart.

And now from LFLF99@aol.com:

Hi, maybe you can help me. For days I have been trying to find someone or
some store who has the cartoon videotape: THE ADVENTURES OF SUPER MARIO BROS. 3.
I have been also trying to find it on the internet, but I can't. I know
one tape has these two episodes: MISADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING/SUPER KOOPA.
I don't any other episodes that may be on tape. Can you e-mail me back &
let me know where I can find this cartoon tape. What are all the episodes that
are on videotape, & how long would it take to arrive if I ordered it & other
copies from the internet. Please give accurate information as soon as
possible. Thank you.

Dave:
Try Adam Spradlin, the cartoon guy (yes, he's back!). I'm not the person to talk about that. BTW, don't include your snail-mail address.
Steve:
Of course he's back! I thought I'd be more help here. Unfortunately, it may prove to be easier to find Waldo than tapes of Mario Cartoons. If you do find them, the Internet shipping times would vary.

Let's hear from SHYLO@prodigy.net:

Now, I went through Super Mario Brothers For Super Players (Super Mario Bros. DX, Gameboy Color). Somtimes
it takes me a couple of days to finish levels but 8-2 is very hard. So, could you please tell me how to beat
world 8-2 on SMB2 Japan?

P.S. In response to the question about unlimited lives. You can also do it on world 7-1 with the Buzzy Beetle at
the end of the level.

Dave:
In 8-2, after the lake, DON'T get the star. Jump on the Koopa to get the vine, then climb the vine to the goal. It's easier said than done for some players. BTW, I am familiar with game initials, for future reference.
Steve:
Should do it. Man, I remember playing that game on SNES. I could get to world 9, but I never could get past stage C-3. Between Lakitu and the wind, things got way too hard, so I warped back to B-4 and warped to world D.

Now from MLHotmail@aol.com (caution, this is long):

Is there ever going to be a Nintendo 64 sequel to Super Mario 64? If there
is,how is it going to look? I know it takes about 3-4 years to make a
perfect game, but come on! Its been 4 years since we saw a adventure mario
game? Nintendo Power said that there is a sequel to super mario 64 being
developed, and said that even they didn't get any info on the game! Not even
screenshots! I know alot of people have been waiting for Super Mario 64 2
to come out,but now it just seems too late for nintendo to release it. But you
never know sometimes with nintendo. They're always full of suprises! I
guess all I can do now is wait for the Nintendo Dolphin to hit shelves in
about 7 months along with the new Mario game. You know the "Got Milk
comercial?" You know, the one with Mario trying to jump on to the little
platform, and he can't? And those little kids that are playing they're
Nintendo 64 are yelling at him to jump. Well is that what Super Mario 64 2
will look like if Nintendo uses the full mind busting power of the Nintendo
64,or was that a sample of what Mario Dolphin will look like? Was that
commercial just kids playing Super Mario 64,because I know what they can do
possible on the T.V. They can make the game look way better than it really
is! I'm confused man???!!!!!!!!!!

Dave:
It's a commercial. Also, nobody knows about SM64-2 except for the heads in Japan. BTW, have you hugged your grammar check today?

Steve:
Super Mario 64 2, along with about seven zillion other things, is one of those ideas Nintendo never did anything with. As for the ad-deal with it!

Now from Wolf5614@aol.com:

Wario's name does NOT come from changing the 'M' in Mario to a 'W', as you
all seem to believe. It is actually from Japanese warui, meaning 'bad' or
something to that effect. Also, Fox McCloud IS in fact the character from
Star Fox on SNES, not James McCloud or whatever it was you guys wrote.

Dave:
Just because this is the mailbag doesn't mean I'm the gripe person as far as I'm concerned. All of that I knew. Maybe someone else doesn't, but that's not me. If you have a gripe about someone, send it to THEM, not ME. I got on board not 3 months ago. Why you're taking out your frustration with me, I don't know. You are now in the Haul of Shame with no hope of redemption. Let this be a warning to everyone.

See you in next month!
