Story:
These all have the same story. Here it is in pick-your-own-game-story form. Our heroes (Pick a pair:Donkey/Diddy, Diddy/Dixie, Dixie/Kiddy) Kong were guarding the banana horde. Suddenly the Kremlings came out and captured (Pick a group: The bananas, The bananas/Donkey, The bananas/Donkey/Diddy) while they were sleeping. Enlisting the help of (Pick some random animals with funny names) they follow the banana trail to King K. Rool and the missing (see choice #2). They ALL fit this formula virtually to a tee.
Mario's Role:
Let's see, he's in a game with one of the characters in the first game. He has a cameo in DKC2 (along with Yoshi and Link). That's it.
The Rebirth:
This game sparked a partial rebirth of a few things. First and foremost, it started of DK again. With his name on an SNES game, he became popular yet again. Secondly, it was a rebirth for SNES partially. With a huge marketing blitz and graphics that blew away most other SNES games. Third, it was a rebirth for platform (Mario-type) games. With 6 games that were all identical but great sellers, many more companies were interested in making more Mario rip-offs. Yay!
Enemies:
Weird new enemies infect the whole game. One came back from DK Jr., the claptraps. The others are mostly reptilian things and birds or underwater sharks or something. Nothing too original
Ending:
After defeating King K. Rool, you get back the bananas and (fill in stupid sounding names here) and get to watch the credits with some nice music (applies to all the games)
