Mario Clip-ons - The more things change, the more things stay the same. Take this pair of products as an example. The top one is from the time of the original SMB. It's a little plastic figure with some cheap felt on it. The gimmick is that the figure has spring loaded arms so that the figure can grab onto things in Mario's classic vine climbing pose. Often these were found on pencils, but people put these sorts of things everywhere. Fast forward to the late 90's, and SM64's release. What do we see but... another clip-on (bottom). This one is designed to clip on to your backpack and hold your keys as well. The newer figure is made of a higher quality posable rubber, and is a bit thinner too, but the basic concept between these two toys has stayed the same over the years. These are cute as collectibles and gifts, but most likely not worth a lot.
